Updates to Battle Farm, May 01 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 1.0.231

Today I went through every purchase that had been made on the original Battle Farm so that I could credit anybody who bought something. It made me feel really grateful to have had support for a brand new game! It also made me hope very much that if I ever earn enough for DevEx that they have exportable purchase reports!

New Features

  • When a player dies, part of their penalty gets boxed up into a bounty that is placed on the map. Big white glowing box. Whoever finds it first gets the loot! If the player has the No Penalty XP pass, a small bounty still gets created.
  • Badge for making a purchase and supporting the game!
  • A badge and gift of gold for anyone who made a purchase before today in BATTLE FARM CLASSIC. The gift is proportional to how many Robux the player spent.

User Experience Improvements

  • Realized there wasn't much to buy in the 1B - 500B range and that's a loooong wait so - changed the High Yield trees to be the next tier after the regular money trees.
  • Increased the number of monster spawn points (not the number of monsters though) - to spread them out a bit.
  • Even more hall of fame fixes.

Bugs Fixed

  • Fixed a badge detection issue.
  • No more levitating building floors!

Updates to Battle Farm, April 30 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 1.0.229

New Features

  • When you hit a monster and cause damage, you get a small XP increase. This means that if you take down a giant with a silver sword in 10 hits, you'll get some XP. If you do it with a wood sword in 100 hits, you'll get even more XP, since that was a more difficult feat. This bonus only applies if you don't have your shields up, of course!

User Experience Improvements

  • Took out the local elder award as it was pretty much the same as the game elder one ... or at least, that was confusing even to me and I wrote it.
  • There is now a big daily gift as well as a random gift (coins, gold, boosts, etc) given now and then while you play. No more hourly gift.

Bugs Fixed

  • Weapons selection is working again. I moved it to a button next to the tools rather than it being a tool itself.
  • Settings button now appears with the other buttons instead of earlier
  • The leaderboards were usually not showing more than 2 leaders (instead of 3) - fixed
  • When one player on the server got added to the Hall of Fame team, they all did - fixed, along with some other hall of fame data issues.
  • Latest multiplayer test revealed some issues with bad (or no) error trapping - fixed

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.222 BETA

Getting very close to going live with this version of the game.

New Features

  • Hall of fame! More stats will be added as we go forward. It's on the map, so you should be able to find it easily.
  • If you are in the hall of fame, you'll be added to the Hall of Fame team.

User Experience Improvements

  • Store link in the button area (lower right of screen)
  • Adjusted the left panel because it was having some display issues on tablets.
  • Maybe not considered and improvement but I decided having the old Battle Farm passes work in this game is too confusing. So I removed that feature.

Updates to Battle Farm, April 26 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.221 BETA

I know I should have been working on features but some of the crudeness of the GUI was starting to get to me. So I took a little time to polish it.

New Features

  • Player mailbox! You can now be sent gifts and news from the game into your mail. Just click the mail icon at the bottom of teh screen.

User Experience Improvements

  • Re-did the boost panel to be less ugly.
  • Rearranged the location of a few things on screen (like how much you have, average output) to make better use of the space.

Bugs Fixed

  • Players couldn't change the floor type - now they can (although: right now only lounge is available)

Updates to Battle Farm, April 25 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.214 BETA

Almost done getting the floor decorating sorted out. You can see the requirement panel right now but you can't do anything with it yet. That's for tomorrow!

New Features

  • You now get a 30 second forcefield after you respawn.
  • Music plays after your game loads, and you can choose which type of song (or turn it off) in Settings.

User Experience Improvements

  • Improved the loading process, and put your coins and tokens into the gui near the message center.

Bugs Fixed

  • Fixed some issues with resetting your own game save, like parts of the UI not going away when they should, and not getting the starter gift if you leave and come back without claiming them.

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.198 BETA

Better day today than yesterday, even though I hit a weird bug with the leaderboard that I haven't figured out yet.

New Features

  • Made more progress on changing floor types - not quite ready for prime time but getting there.

User Experience Improvements

  • Worked on some lag issues including how the gift drops work (no more dropping coins from the sky!)
  • Worked on the elevator controls a bit. Still not perfect but getting better.

Updates to Battle Farm, April 20 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.196 BETA

New Features

  • UI that shows you how many materials you have. This will be important because you need them to build things.

User Experience Improvements

  • Adjusted the number of monsters that can be on the field to deal with some lag issues.
  • Kill block removed (death recovery now stable).
  • Messaging when you first join that your game is loading.

Bugs Fixed

  • R15 players can teleport now (thanks to player your_food for helping me discover that bug!)
  • Participation Badge now awarding after 5 minutes of play (this will be true for anyone who plays regardless if you've played before)
  • Monsters are no longer damaged by the environment (oops!)
  • Giant Zombie is working again
  • A couple of visual fixes to the training room. It's not enabled yet but that's up next.
