Updates to Battle Farm, April 19 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.192 BETA

I had one of those days where I worked a lot and didn't make a lot of progress (ARGH). I spent most of it trying to make the zombies better (models, animations, logic). In the end I think the regular Zombies are better, but I had to turn off spawning of the Giant Zombies because they are inexplicably levitating above the ground no matter what I seem to do. I am going to leave it alone and try again later.

New Features

  • Better, smarter regular zombies that are R15 2.0 models.

User Experience Improvements

  • When you select for your weapons slot, it automatically equips and closes the selection gui - so if you change weapons while fighting you won't lose much time.
  • Settings panel now shows a few stats.

Updates to Battle Farm, April 18 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.20 BETA

New Features

  • STARTED to put in floor types but had to publish out halfway through. So this build might be a bit wonky especially with the building floors.

User Experience Improvements

  • If you restart your game, you're now given a wait screen rather than watching everything reset (which can be a little ugly).
  • If you only have 1 seed of a type to sell, the "Sell All" button does not appear (since you can sell with the "Sell 1" button)
  • Removed the training dummy. That's going to be a training floor in your building instead (coming soon!)

Bugs Fixed

  • Fixed a bunch of issues with resetting your game save, including levels not resetting, timers messed up, that sort of thing.
  • Fixed an exploitable bug where if you returned a planted tree to inventory, you could keep "returning" it until the model went away (which was lagging). Removed the lag.
  • If you bought a tree or tool and hit its max, the buy button would still be visible until you closed the panel. fixed.

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.19 BETA

New Features

  • Do more damage - SILVER SWORD added to tool store!
  • You can select which sword you want in your weapons slot (if you own more than one)

Bugs Fixed

  • Your tools come back when you die / reset.
  • Tried to fix useless enemy glitch (enemy is stuck and does not fight back or move). Will keep an eye out for it (difficult to reproduce in Studio).

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.18 BETA

New Features

  • Monsters are now a group effort - if two or more players defeat the monster they divide up the rewards.
  • GIANT ZOMBIES!
  • Power boost - doubles your attack power for a burst of time

User Experience Improvements

  • Zombies don't run around quite so frantically, and now they only hone in on a player if that player is pretty close.
  • Player Points now awarded every minute based on level (instead of just 1 point)
  • Fixed some issues with levitating parts (in farms / store)
  • Average output adjusted (again) - now shows your avg/second for the last minute. Should give you a pretty good sense of how much your farm is generating each second.

New Features

  • ROAMING ZOMBIES! If you want to avoid being attacked, put your shields up! Which brings us to:
  • Shield boost. Using this will raise your forcefield for a while.
  • Your sword now equips as soon as you join. Your shovel still equips only when you have a farm claimed.

User Experience Improvements

  • Better job of notifying you when you don't have enough coins or tokens to buy something.

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.2.9 BETA

Note: Roblox appears to be having problems and games are only half-loading in Studio, so I am going to walk away and let things sort themselves out for a bit...

New Features

  • It's a participation trophy! You get a badge for playing your first 5 minutes. (Note: this includes anyone who has already been playing - your next 5 minutes will earn the badge). Also you get some tokens. Yay!

User Experience Improvements

  • Messages about gifts get their own color in the message center now.
  • Your level bar also indicates your max HP
  • Your output bar is now the average your farm is earning. Right now it's just the average for your whole session. That might change depending on if it's helpful or not.

Bugs Fixed

  • The quick tree icon and the sword tool icon weren't loading on some platforms, now they are.
  • Call button for first floor on elevators only visible when the actual elevator is visible instead of floating there before the building is built

Updates to Battle Farm, April 13 2017

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.1.6 BETA

New Features

  • Your building now has an elevator instead of the stairs, and there's the start of a floor management panel where you'll be able to assign floor types soon. This was a big one and took a couple of days and a fair amount of angst but much better than the old way, I think.
  • Teleport GUI completed
  • You can now collect teleports as you run around

User Experience Improvements

  • "You equipped your shovel" message only happens until you have 6+ trees planted (instead of every single time). It also now only goes to the player message, not chat.
  • Adjusted pricing and output of High Yield trees - some levels were worth less than their regular tree counterparts of the same cost. If you bought these trees before this version: you're lucky! Those trees are going to make it rain
  • Adjusted gift from found coins to be based on player level.

BATTLE FARM VERSION 0.1.3 BETA

New Features

  • Save icon and time last saved added, message in player message center about saving taken away (should reduce message clutter)
  • Night Trees light up a bit at night

User Experience Improvements

  • Changed "Town Center" label on map to "Plant store" and moved its spawn point closer to the seeds
  • Changed the store item models because the thousands of seeds in the containers caused a lot of lag
  • Adjusted tree stats (cost, output) for better game balance
  • Item details now show you the output of the tree ("this tree gives you C$5 every 2 seconds"). Also shows you how many you have in seed storage and planted

Bugs Fixed

  • When a player used a boost, the boost timer counted down for ALL PLAYERS on the server, then counted down that number of seconds. So a player boost would tick down five seconds at a time, and other players would also see their timer start ticking down. Fixed.
